The Nordics' leading experts in Organisational Behaviour Management (OBM)
Lead your organisation where you want it to go with OBM
We are Sweden’s leading experts in Organizational Behavior Management (OBM). OBM is a practical and 100% evidence-based method for identifying and changing the behaviors that lead to desired results. We have helped hundreds of companies and organizations change behaviors that drive their strategic change initiatives all the way to their goals—with changed behaviors and desired results.
We have increased sales, physical workplace safety, employee engagement, psychological safety, and improved customer service by several hundred percent.
It works - every time.
Why focus on behaviours?
Behaviours are what produce results. By identifying and defining the behaviours that produce the desired results, we can systematically create better conditions and reinforce those behaviours, while simultaneously reducing undesired behaviours that hinder the desired outcomes. Through behavioural analysis, leaders can learn to influence the factors that drive these behaviours.

Our Approach
SAFE – How we apply OBM in practice.
Organisational Behaviour Management (OBM) is based on research in behavioural psychology that enables us to understand and influence behaviour. To identify and reinforce desired behaviours in our daily work, we need to better understand human behaviour and the tools that can help us achieve lasting behaviour change in our organisations.
At Behaviour Design Group, we have developed the SAFE model—which helps organisations implement OBM in four simple steps. With SAFE, we apply the science behind OBM in a simple and effective way that delivers measurable results for our clients.
Study
Our work begins by establishing the organisation’s overall goals and desired outcomes. We identify the specific areas and situations within the organisation that have the greatest impact on these outcomes. In this step, we define the key behaviours that need to increase, as well as the competing behaviours that must decrease in order to achieve the desired outcome.
Analyse
In the next step, we conduct behavioural analyses to understand why leaders and employees act the way they do. Using these insights, we design both the necessary conditions and develop measures to reinforce the desired behaviour of both leaders and employees. This usually involves organisational factors such as structures, the right tools, and communication. Based on these analyses, we create an action plan for the change process.
Forward
We begin the change process within the organisation with the aim of activating and reinforcing the key behaviours outlined in the action plan. At the same time, we work to reduce the competing behaviours. Throughout the change process, we conduct ongoing behaviour measurements. An important part of the change process is training leaders in behaviour-based leadership and skills such as giving feedback and active listening, which are crucial for leading change according to the OBM method.
Evaluate
In the final step, we evaluate the change process and the impact of implementing OBM using the SAFE model. Behavioural data (our leading indicators) provide us with objective data on how successfully we have managed to activate and reinforce key behaviours within the organisation. Once these metrics are maintained consistently at a high level, we can assess their impact on target goals (using lagging indicators), such as the number of accidents, sales figures, innovation rates, or perceived psychological safety.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do we get started with OBM—Organisational Behaviour Management?
Schedule an initial meeting with Behaviour Design Group, and we’ll discuss how we can best work together based on your needs. In our organisational development initiatives, we follow the 4-step SAFE model to implement OBM in practice—read more about this under Our Method.
-
What is the difference between behaviour-based safety (BBS) and Organisational Behaviour Management (OBM)?
Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) is an approach within OBM where we focus on safety culture by promoting safe behaviours and thereby measurably reducing the number of accidents and near misses. BBS follows the same change process as OBM, with the difference that the goal is specifically to improve safety and strengthen safety culture. Our BBS projects also involve creating favorable conditions for safe behaviours by analysing and influencing organisational, competency-related, and structural factors.

What is Organisational Behaviour Management (OBM)?
Organisational Behaviour Management (OBM) is a concrete and 100% evidence-based approach that focuses on identifying and changing behaviours that produce desired results. By identifying and defining the behaviours that produce desired results, we can accurately create better conditions and reinforce these behaviours, while simultaneously reducing unwanted behaviours that hinder those results. Through behavioral analysis, leaders can learn to influence the motivation behind these behaviours.
-
How does Behaviour Design Group ensure that we achieve the desired impact in our organisation?
To achieve your desired results, we will reinforce the behaviours that have the greatest impact on those results. Our method measures and tracks behavioural changes over time, while also monitoring whether the key performance indicators directly linked to the goals are improving as a result of those behavioural changes. This means we will be able to track improvements through concrete metrics throughout the entire process.
-
How does Behaviour Design Group tailor its services to our needs?
We begin new projects by familiarizing ourselves with the specific assignment at hand, and we have well-developed methods and approaches designed to help us gain a deep understanding of your particular situation and current conditions, as well as to define the goals you wish to achieve. We implement OBM based on our SAFE model, where the first phase—Study—involves identifying the key situations and behaviours that have the greatest impact on the results you want to achieve within your organisation. You can read about completed projects in the Case section.
